THE TALE OF THREE CITIES:THE ROYAL CITY:MYSORE

Early morning we started our journey with the zoo.I asked myself "have i come this far to see monkeys".Well,i was wrong this was much better. The long wait at the gate of the zoo gave us some ample time to buy us some fancy sunglasses ,the size ranging from the entire face to just the eyes. The names given to animals were quite interesting .i recall a tiger named chandrashekar ,he was handsome,i must say.The lazy bear, the desperate swan, the clumsy monkeys and the motherly blue bird were the eyecatchers.

Our next stop was the Mysore palace.I had a feeling tha i have seen the best when i saw Taj Mahal back in Agra, but after having my first looks at the mysore palace the true meaning of "royalty" was crystal clear in my mind. Here at the palace one thing which was too true is that everything which glitters is gold. There were photos and paintings of the King Chamarajendra wadyar(if i' have not spelled it wrong) exhibited .The skill and expertise was so obvious when i saw RajaRavi varma's paintings. The king looked very charming. The artefacts & gifts studded the palce like anything. There was painting showing the darbar ,every coutesan had a different face showing unique expressions.i was just dumbstruck to see the livliness of the painting. The 36 pillar darbar was a feat to the eyes. There were two black panther statues at the entrance, carved in single marble stone, which had some great ferocity in itself.

The day ended with a visit to the Bridabhan Gardens. The music fountain filled our hearts with some great colors. It was a cool night with a soft breeze which added to the beautiful scenery at the gardens.
